
Robert E. Noble, M.D.
has been practicing medicine with Richmond Pediatrics since 1986. He received his undergraduate degree from Furman University in 1979. He attended medical school and received his MD degree from SUNY at Buffalo in 1983. Dr. Noble then completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia. Upon completing his residency in 1986, he joined Richmond Pediatrics in private practice. Dr. Noble is board certified in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics and he is also a primary care preceptor for medical students at MCV. He and his wife, Julie, have three children. Dr. Noble enjoys spending time with his family, water sports, and playing golf.
Kim P. Yucha, M.D.
has been practicing pediatric medicine with Richmond Pediatrics since 1988. She received her undergraduate degree from Wake Forest University and received her Masters Degree from the University of Florida. She received her Medical Degree from East Carolina University. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Yucha is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is the current President of Richmond Pediatrics. She enjoys time with her husband and four children.
J. Richard Klaas, M.D.
has been a pediatrician at Richmond Pediatric Associates since 1996. He enjoyed growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and still visits there frequently. He was an Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia. There, he pursued a premedical curriculum with interests in biology and child psychology, and graduated in 1989. He then attended the University of Michigan Medical School, where he graduated in 1993. He was inducted into the Galens Medical Society at Michigan in 1991. Dr. Klaas completed his Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center in 1996. Dr. Klaas was appointed Clinical Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University. He has been active in teaching medical students and residents, both in our office and at the medical school. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics, and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has numerous interests and hobbies, including kayaking, gardening, biking, and reading.
Gwendolyn O. Gibson-Frasier, M.D.
has been with Richmond Pediatrics since completing her residency in pediatrics at MCV in July of 1999. She completed her undergraduate education at South Carolina State University and also a Master’s degree in microbiology from the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Gibson-Frasier attended medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She then completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Gibson-Frasier is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics and is a member of Alpha Kappa Mu National Honor Society and Beta Kappa Chi Scientific Honor Society. She also received the Medical Loyalty Fund Scholarship and Board of Governor’s Scholarship while at Chapel Hill.
Gary A. Tipton, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in December of 1999. He attended the University of Michigan where he received his undergraduate degree. From there, he attended medical school at Wayne State University School of Medicine. Dr. Tipton completed his internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia. He also completed a Robert Wood Johnson Fellowship at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. During his twenty plus years of experience as pediatrician, Dr. Tipton has worked at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia and at MCV here in Richmond. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Sonja Haugeto, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in July of 2001. She came to our group after just completing her Residency in Pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Haugeto holds a Bachelor Degree in Science from Cornell University and completed medical school Cum Laude at SUNY Health Science Center at Syracuse. During her medical education, Dr. Haugeto was admitted into the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha and has received awards such as the Department of Pediatrics Award, the Department of Neurosurgery Award, the Mayo Clinic Departmental Scholarship in Pediatrics and the AMWA Janet M. Glasgow Memorial Achievement Citation. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association. Dr. Haugeto is board certified in Pediatrics.
David Gosselin, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in July of 2002. Dr. Gosselin completed his residency in pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia Hospital. He also attended medical school at MCV and has participated in numerous volunteer activities in the Richmond area. Dr. Gosselin is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Gosselin received his Bachelor of Science degree from the College of William and Mary where he majored in biology.
Kimberly M. Phillips, M.D.
attended medical school at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Following graduation, she moved to Richmond to attend the Medical College of Virginia for her Internship and Residency in Pediatrics. At the end of her residency, she was appointed Pediatric Chief Resident and in 2003 she was awarded the Emily Gardiner Chief Resident Award. At the completion of her chief resident year, Dr. Phillips worked at MCV as an Assistant Professor and Director of the residents’ clinic. She left MCV to join Richmond Pediatrics in March of 2003. Dr. Phillips is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics. She enjoys travel, skiing, water sports, reading, and spending time with her family. She is married and has one daughter.
Kathleen K. LaRosa, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in February of 2004. Prior to that time, she was practicing pediatrics with a practice in Chesterfield. Dr. LaRosa attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA. Her residency in pediatrics was completed at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas and, thereafter, she started practicing pediatrics in Pearland, Texas. Dr. LaRosa is Board Certified in Pediatrics and is active as a preceptor for students at the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. LaRosa and her husband, a fellow physician, have three young children and reside in Richmond.
Tracy S. Wright, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatric Associates in September of 2005 after completing her residency in pediatrics at the University of Washington in Seattle. Dr. Wright received her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia. Before attending medical school, Dr. Wright worked as the referral coordinator at our office, so we are most pleased to have her return to our practice. Dr. Wright is board certified in pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a primary care preceptor for medical students at MCV. She is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society and has received awards for academic achievement, teaching, leadership and volunteer work. Dr. Wright lives with her husband and young son. Her interests include mountain biking, running, triathlon and other outdoor pursuits.
Laura K. Hassen, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in September of 2005. Dr. Hassen, a Richmond-area native, received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her medical degree from VCU’s Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Hassen completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Miami. Prior to her employment with Richmond Pediatrics, Dr. Hassen was a Pediatric Hospitalist at Stanford University Medical Center in the San Francisco Bay area. Dr. Hassen is a board certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also a primary care preceptor for medical students at MCV. She enjoys traveling with her husband, skiing, tennis, and painting.
Sally Bowles, M.D.
joined Richmond Pediatrics in July of 2007. Dr. Bowles, a Virginia native, received her undergraduate degree from William and Mary and completed medial school at Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Bowles received her pediatric residency training at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Bowles is board eligible with the American Academy of Pediatrics. She enjoys cooking, biking and hiking.
Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
Judith A. Ziehl, C.P.N.P.
grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. She received a diploma in nursing at the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Baltimore. From there, she moved around the U.S. - California, Florida, and New York. She received her BSN from Columbia University in New York City. She then moved to Richmond, Virginia and completed her master's degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. Having worked in the Pediatric ICU at MCV while in school, she stayed there after graduation, until September of 1997. At that time, she came to work at Richmond Pediatrics. Judith has been involved in nurse practitioner education and enjoys this opportunity. She and her husband enjoy bike riding and the beach whenever possible.
Stephanie K. Smith, C.P.N.P.
is a certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. She received a B.S. in Biology from Virginia Tech in 1994 followed by a B.S. and M.S. in Nursing from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996 with a specialty in pediatric primary care. She worked in private practice in Williamsburg, VA prior to joining Richmond Pediatric Associates in 1997. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, Richmond Pediatric Society, and an active preceptor for nurse practitioner students through the Medical College of Virginia and Old Dominion University. Stephanie has a special interest in Early Intervention Services, lactation issues, and adolescent eating disorders. Stephanie and her husband are long time residents of Richmond.
